The short story format allows the creators to tell different types of stories so we get a variety of action and fun with some emotional beats thrown in as well. Much like the TV all the elements that work there work in this book. Finally, the issue ends with Batman and Gordon’s annual meet up and toasting to another year of survival. Freeze escaping from Arkham and one with the Joker planning mass murder on New Year’s. ![]() The opening story sees Batgirl, Bullock, and Montoya taking on Clayface, the second had Harley and Ivy kidnapping Bruce Wayne and forcing him to take them on a shopping spree. The book consists of five stories all set around the holidays. As far as Batman Christmas stories go there are many great ones to choose from, but this is easily one of the best. The issue would prove to be a big hit as it would win an Eisner Award and also get adapted into an episode of the Animated Series titled “Holiday Knights”. What really made the book cool was that it was done by the writers and artists that had worked on the cartoon show such as Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. Published in December 1994, the oversized issue featured various short stories featuring various characters from the Animated Series set around the Holidays. The Batman Adventures was a great title and one of the best things to come out of it was the Holiday Special one-shot. ![]()
